Q&A
Common questions about Folio Space
A few practical notes for importing books, connecting remote libraries, and understanding what Folio Space does locally on Apple Vision Pro.
Book Formats
Which file formats can Folio Space read?
Folio Space supports EPUB books, PDF documents, and CBZ or ZIP comic archives. Image-based ZIP archives work best when they contain page images in reading order.
Can Folio Space open MOBI, AZW, or AZW3 files?
Not directly yet. These Kindle formats should be converted to EPUB first, for example with Calibre, and then imported into Folio Space.
Why does a ZIP book fail to import?
Some ZIP files use compression methods that are not supported by the system reader yet. Re-exporting the archive from Calibre, Komga, or another ZIP tool with standard deflate compression usually fixes it.
Remote Libraries
What address should I use for Komga?
Use Komga's OPDS catalog address, not just the server home page. It usually looks like:
http://192.168.10.175:8088/opds/v1.2/catalog
Replace the IP address and port with your own Komga server address. If your Komga server requires sign-in, enter the same username and password you use for Komga.
What address should I use for Calibre-Web?
Start with the address of your Calibre-Web server, including
http:// or https://. If your setup exposes
a specific OPDS endpoint, use that endpoint. Make sure OPDS is
enabled in Calibre-Web settings.
Why can my Mac open the server but Vision Pro cannot?
Your Vision Pro must be able to reach the same network address.
Check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, the server is
running, the port is open, and your router or firewall is not
blocking local network access. If you use a private IP address such
as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x, it usually
only works inside your local network.
Can I use a remote library outside my home network?
Yes, if your server is reachable from outside your local network, but you are responsible for securing it. Prefer HTTPS, strong passwords, and a trusted private network or reverse proxy. Avoid exposing an unsecured book server directly to the internet.
Does Folio Space upload my books to its own server?
No. Folio Space does not operate a cloud library for your books. Local books stay on your device. Remote library requests go to the Calibre-Web or Komga server address you enter.
Library and Pro
How many books can I keep for free?
The free library supports up to 10 books. Folio Space Pro removes the local library limit and unlocks Pro reading experiments.
Do remote library books count before I import them?
Browsing a remote OPDS catalog does not add those books to your local library. A book counts after you import it into Folio Space.
How do I restore a previous purchase?
Open the Folio Space Pro screen and choose Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in with the Apple ID that originally made the purchase.
Reading Experience
Is Folio Space a virtual bookshelf?
No. Folio Space is designed around quiet reading, not displaying decorative 3D book models. The goal is to make books, documents, and visual pages comfortable to read in a spatial environment.
Does Folio Space include books or comics?
No. Folio Space is a reader. You import your own books, documents, and comics, or connect to your own Calibre-Web or Komga library.
